Description

Why doesn't your coffee at home taste like the one at your favourite café?

If you love coffee but the one you make at home never quite matches your go-to café, this workshop is for you. With Enzo, who has more than 10 years' experience in Italian cafés, you'll discover the tricks, techniques and methods for making café-quality coffee at home. All with everyday home equipment – no professional machines.

How the workshop works

  1. How do you make your coffee at home? We start by sharing how you make your coffee today, to understand where the difference lies.
  2. Ways to make coffee. We go over the most common methods – V60, cold brew and others – and focus on the moka pot, the Italian classic.
  3. Aroma tasting of 9 coffees. We smell nine whole-bean coffees. Enzo tells you the origin and story of each one, its aromatic profile, and how origin and roast level change what you perceive.
  4. Hands on. You choose two of the nine coffees and brew your two coffees with the workshop's moka pots.
  5. Final tasting. We share all the coffees we've made, so you end up trying almost every variety and discover how each coffee changes from bean to cup.

What's included?

  • Aroma tasting of 9 coffees from different origins and roasts.
  • Use of the moka pots and all equipment during the workshop. The moka pots stay here, but the technique goes home with you!
  • Brewing your two coffees and tasting the whole group's coffees.
  • Unlimited drinks during the workshop.
  • Enzo by your side throughout the workshop.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know

Where are you and how do I get there?

The workshop takes place at our studio at Carrer de Saragossa 42, 08006, Barcelona.

The nearest public transport stops are: V15, V17, D40, 22, 24, 27, 87, L3 Fontana, FGC L6, S1, S2, L7 (Plaza Molina-Sant Gervasi).

The nearest car park is at the petrol station on Carrer de Balmes (maps link).

Do I take anything home?

You take home the most important thing: the technique, the tricks and the know-how to choose and prepare your coffee at home. The coffees, coffee makers and other materials are used during the workshop and stay here.

Which days and at what times is the workshop held?

You'll see the available days, times and spots when you choose a date on this page. If you can't find a slot that suits you, drop us a line and we'll look at options.

What's the atmosphere like? Relaxed, social, guided step by step?

It's a relaxed, very sociable plan, guided throughout. We taste, prepare and share as a group, so you end up comparing impressions with everyone and trying what each person has made.

Do I need any experience? Is it suitable for complete beginners?

Not at all. You just have to like coffee. We explain everything from scratch, and if you already have experience you'll discover new nuances and tricks.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the start time, so you can settle in calmly and everyone can start together.

What language is the workshop taught in?

The workshop is taught in Spanish, English or Italian, and in more than one language at once if needed.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just a willingness to learn and taste coffee. We provide the coffees, the coffee makers and all the materials.

Is there a minimum age? Can under-18s come?

The workshop is designed for adults, as it involves tasting and drinking coffee. If you'd like to come with under-18s, write to us first and we'll see.

Is the space wheelchair accessible? Are there stairs?

The space has a step-free accessible route (a ramp, no steps) and an accessible toilet.

What if I can't have much caffeine?

You don't have to drink it all: the aroma tasting is by smell, and in the final tasting you decide how much you try. You also have the workshop's other drinks available.

Are drinks other than coffee included? Are there alcohol-free options?

Yes. As well as the coffees we taste and prepare, you get unlimited drinks: wine (red, dry white, sweet white), Coca-Cola (regular and Zero), juices (peach or pineapple) and water.

Can I come on my own? Will I be seated with other people? Will I meet others?

Of course! Lots of people come on their own and leave after some great conversations (and sometimes new friendships). The atmosphere is friendly and we seat you in a shared space, so it's easy to socialise… or go at your own pace if you prefer.

Do you host hen parties, birthdays and other celebrations?

Yes! Hen parties, birthdays and celebrations with friends are among our favourite plans. We adapt the workshop so it becomes the centrepiece of a special day.

Do you organise corporate or team-building events?

Yes. We run sessions for companies as a team-building activity or creative event. Tell us how many of you there are and what you're looking for, and we'll send you a tailor-made proposal.

Can I book a private session for my group?

Yes, we organise private sessions for groups. Write to us with a rough date, the number of people and the workshop you're interested in, and we'll put together a proposal.

Do you sell gift cards or vouchers?

Yes, and they make an ideal gift for birthdays, to say thank you or for any occasion. There are two ways to give a workshop:

  • With an open date: buy a gift workshop. The person who receives it chooses when to come and books online themselves with their card's code or by scanning the QR code. Gift vouchers don't expire: they can be redeemed whenever you like.
  • With a date already booked: if you already know the day, book the workshop as usual. After checkout you can create a gift card with the booking date to hand over.

Either way you can personalise the card (who it's for, who it's from and a message) after checkout, and you'll also get the link in your order email. You can download it as a PDF to print or send it by WhatsApp.

How do I book? Do I need to book in advance or can I just turn up?

You must book online on our website, choosing the workshop, date and number of spots. As groups are small and spots are limited, we recommend booking in advance; we can't guarantee a spot for walk-ins.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can read our cancellation policy here.

What happens if you cancel?

Although it's rare, we get ill too :) If we can't run the workshop, we offer a full refund or a change of date.

Are there specific terms and conditions for the workshops?

Yes, you can read them at this link.
